Matthew 9:18
A wealthy ruler approached Jesus for help because his daughter just died. He addressed Jesus, “Put your hand on her and she will live.” While Jesus was attending to him a poor woman who suffered from a recurrent loss of blood said, “If I only touch his cloak I will be healed.”
These two exclamations elicit a new song – faith in Jesus, real faith based on real knowledge. “She will live.” “I will be healed.” There is no equivocation here, just pure, simple, profound unexpected declaration of faith in Jesus Christ. This obviously pleased Jesus, as it must have Matthew, a new disciple who is getting to know who Jesus is. Matthew discerned that Jesus performed such miracles as a way of broadcasting his presence among mankind. “News of this spread through all that region.”
