Matthew 9 continued
An additional word – the way to salvation is through the realization that I am a sinner and will be so until I am glorified. I think the point of decision comes when I am asked, “Are you a sinner?” In other words, do I need God? If the answer is, “I do not see myself as a sinner,” then the salvation offered by Jesus, through his own merits, death, resurrection, etc., has no appeal at all because I am just fine, only need to be more loving and kind. I can work on that.
If, on the other hand, I am burdened by a sense of being in rebellion against God, then the offer of free salvation by grace – is hope to the hopeless, strength to the weak, water to the parched.
