“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
1 Peter 2:24
I am impressed this morning by the strong contrast – “die to sins and live for righteousness.” How do we go about that? The answer is in Jesus, by his wounds you have been healed.
It all goes back to Jesus, dying on the Cross to forgive our sins and to usher into our lives the blessed Holy Spirit.
I am amazed, again, that the price has already been paid by Jesus and He now extends the invitation to inherit the blessing. That is to you and me, the offer is there.
We had nothing to do with working out our own salvation. So, friend, we stand before one of the most wonderful facts – Jesus died for my sin long, long ago. I simply inherit its blessing. By his stripes we are healed. Not our stripes! But His! How could I ever doubt that?
