Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
Galatians 6:9, 10
Paul knows the temptations that we have, don’t you think? There are times when we are tempted to think, especially when we get older and less involved to just relax and do as little as possible to help others. My days of helping others is probably over! Just let me alone! At age 90, I am right there! My major responsibility is to look after my own soul and body but that is never enough. I must continue to be concerned about the needs of others.
I am finding guidance in the next words, Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Tomorrow Anna Ruth and I hope to sit with our congregation made up of a variety of people. I want to be aware of the needs of others.
I have my own needs, especially physically as my body struggles with getting older. I could just sit and feel all my hurts. But then the Spirit of the Lord speaks, do not give up, in due time the harvest will appear. My soul will be glad. Think of the needs of others, pray for them.
