Grace, Grace, Grace

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat!  Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy?

Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.  Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.  Isaiah 55

Let this be my meditation for the day. It is a picture of grace, the wonderful grace of God. It is an invitation to those who are thirsty, those who have no money to buy a drink that can slacken that thirst. The water of salvation was earned at unimaginable cost by Jesus Christ, now it is available free to us.  There is no way we could possibly earn salvation.  It is a gift of God’s marvelous grace.

The invitation is to call on the Lord, to forsake evil ways, to receive from Him pardon and mercy.  Blessed are those who have responded to this invitation and continue to respond, every day.  We bring our poverty, God pours in his riches. That is our Easter song.

As we repent and turn from our evil ways that we can proceed on our journey, now singing with joy.  To our great surprise even nature joins us in our song of praise.  My, my, my, look, the trees and the fields are clapping their hands in joy and encouragement.  All creation is taken up to help us on our way.

Thank you, God in Three, for offering us poor sinners salvation and joy both now and evermore.  We sing our songs of praise with our whole beings.  “You are worthy.”
