I must admit, I find a great deal of satisfaction in working with wood, these days on the wood lathe. In that round log of wood, pictured here, is a jewelry box or whatever you want to use it for. My job is to remove all the wood except for the box. So is life. A log that challenges us is there and we know that it contains something useful but we also know that it will take a lot of work to shape the item and to be careful lest I make a mistake and need to abandon the project, or adjust it to work even not quite as perfect as I had wished. So it is in life. It is not always possible to imagine that something nice could come out of a rough block of wood.
Keep in touch. Let’s get at it, carefully and prayerfully (if it is ok to pray about turning wood!!) Hope blooms eternal. I learn many spiritual lessons in my shop.
