Jane has an herb called Borage.  It is new to me.  In bloom it does look like some sort of an animal or insect, or a combination of both. Rather scary.  If the petals were red it would be frightening. It even has horns and a menacing tongue coming out of the mouth. All an illusion.

I gather it originated in France and is used as a garden plant. The bloom is about an inch wide.
