Matthew 12:42

“One greater than Solomon.”

A story precious to the Jews was of how the splendor of Solomon, Israel’s king, dazzled the enormously powerful “Queen of the South.” She knew that the wisdom and insight that Solomon had exceeded her own, so she became a willing learner. By doing so she acknowledged that the Solomon was greater than she. She did the right thing. Now, Jesus declared, “One greater than Solomon is here.” He left it at that.

We are impressed with people like Albert Einstein in science or Shakespeare in art. “One greater than Einstein or Shakespeare is here.” Surprise – it is Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
